During a gap in my academic career, I began exploring new areas of interest. One of them being woodworking. I began with small pieces and expanding my knowledge on the complex and detail oriented field. As time progressed, I began gifting pieces of work to family and friends which led to requests for various products. I then opened an Etsy page for Astro Woodwork where I've had trouble keeping up with the demand for wooden decorative pieces.
In between semesters, I work tirelessly on new projects and products to expand my abilities and skills.

The outdoor tables at Neutral Ground Coffeehouse in Pittsford, NY were subjected to the elements for multiple seasons and began to show cracks in the logs. Restoring these tables required planing and sanding of all the surfaces. The cracks were filled with a deep pour epoxy.
After planing off the surface finish and exposing the cracks, the ends of the log were plugged and the epoxy was poured. Shims were used to ensure the log was level with the ground. After the pour, a torch was passed over to remove any air bubbles trapped in the epoxy. The epoxy hardened over the course of 5 days.
After the epoxy hardened, the surface was sanded with a coarse grit to remove excess epoxy. The grits progressed to 220 where the surface was sufficiently prepared for a final finishing coat. Finer grits were used on the epoxy portions of the log to allow for a clear view into the epoxy. Finally, an exterior polyurethane finish was applied to the log.
